Effects of Herbaceous Plant Extracts with Organic Feed on Proximate Composition of Chick
Main Article Content
Abstract
Poultry is one of the largest agricultural sectors and poultry meat is an essential source of animal proteins for people all around the world. The present research work was design to check the effect of mustard seed meal and oil as a food additive with 3%, 6% and 9%. The proximate composition of broiler chicks was measure according to the procedure of AOAC. For due to calculation of crude protein content the Kjeldahl method was used to calculate the total fat content. Diethyl ether was used as the solvent for extraction and the ash content was determined by combustion to a consistent weight at 550°C in an electric furnace. The results showed that maximum crude protein was observed in the 6% mustard meal (23.12± 0.43) and minimum was observed in 9% mustard oil (19.93±0.65). Maximum crude fat was observed in 3% mustard meal (7.40±0.29) and minimum was observed in 9% mustard oil. Minimum observed in 9% mustard meal (1.12±0.1) and maximum was observed in 6% mustard oil (1.36±0.01). minimum moisture was observed in 9% mustard meal (61.5±1.29) and maximum was observed in 3% meal (65±2.16). All data was statistically analyzed using a one-way ANOVA followed by Newman-Keuls test.
