Abstract

This study reports the chemical composition of seven sandstones (OH1-OH7), then their use as precursor for the hydrothermal synthetesis of mater in thin films form. Structure identification of the seven samples and thin films produced was conducted by means of the Infra-Red spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction to documenting a composition of sandstones avrage major of 86.86 % α-quartz and minor of 13.14 % calcite. Moreover SEM analysis revealed the presence of solid solution in the crystal lattice of six sandstones samples with trace amounts of Fe, Al, Ag, Na, K.. The syntherised thin films at different temperture are composed mainly of [90.66 % calcite 9.33 % α-quartz and 69 % α-quartz /31% Sodium Chloride]. The crystallite sizes of the sandstones were calculated and estimated to be nanometric.
